Listen to The Schilling Show Singers performing McIntosh, Galvin and Paul:

McIntosh, Galvin and Paul

Anybody here seen my old friend Peter McIntosh?
Can you tell me where he’s gone?
He sued a lot of people
In the Charlottesville court house
But invite him on the Schilling Show and he’s gone

Has anybody here seen my old friend Kathy Galvin?
Can you tell me where she’s gone?
She spent a lot of money
On the Charlottesville School Board
But invite her on the Schilling Show and she’s gone

Anybody here seen my old friend Paul Beyer?
Can you tell me where he’s gone?
He built a lot of houses
In that old Charlottesville
But invite him on the Schilling Show and he’s gone

Did you love anything they stood for?
Didn’t they try to buy some votes from you and me?
But they’re not free
Some day soon, maybe on the Schilling Show…

Anybody here seen my old friend Huja?
We he ever take my call?
He’s tricked a lot of people in old Charlottesville
With McIntosh, Galvin and Paul

The provoking corporate crime? A desire to advertise wireless mobile products to a broader audience.

The Moat Monster’s vicious verbal assault on nTelos Inc. was launched during the April 4, 2011 City Council meeting as the body was discussing “naming rights” for the Charlottesville Pavilion. The music venue, held jointly by Coran Capshaw and the City of Charlottesville in public-private partnership, contractually is permitted corporate naming affiliation.

Prefacing her remarks with a disclaimer that she intended to vote in favor of the Pavilion re-christening, Szakos did so, but not before lecturing her “subjects” on the inherent evils of “big business.” Kristen laid bare her disdain for free-market capitalism as she took the floor in a painfully rambling, gesticulating objection:

I don’t think that we should have our city, you know, with corporate sponsors, um, in that sort of publically visible way. But I think that this is the law that we have and so I don’t really see um, that, that I would feel comfortable denying it because I think that it’s, it’s within the letter of the law, and nTelos is, you know, granted it’s a corporation, it’s also a local corporation, it’s not uh, uh, you know, uh, you know, some, I guess there are really no pure large companies, but it’s, it’s not a particularly horrible one. [emphasis added]

Szakos shared no supporting evidence either for her anti-enterprise malediction or her inference that nTelos was a “horrible” corporation of some degree. Viewers of the churlish outburst were left with the impression that the Marxist councilor simply hates “business”—a seemingly appropriate assumption.

An astute poverty pimp, Szakos excels at community organizing with intent to promulgate class warfare. Bemoaning the plight of Charlottesville’s poor while denigrating a successful locally based business apparently does not strike the Moat Monster as incongruous. Perhaps she should consider that:

nTelos provides 1,445 full-time jobs regionally

nTelos pays/collects corporate, sales, excise, and payroll taxes all of which enrich government coffers and help finance government social programs

nTelos offers “essential” services (telephone, high-speed Internet, etc.) at reasonable cost to all income groups

nTelos excels at customer service

In short, it does not appear that nTelos is “horrible” at all, Councilor Szakos. In fact, because of your penchant for large, expensive government, you should be thanking nTelos for their presence here, not damning them.

Once termed “dumber than a box of rocks” in a local online forum, the Moat Monster again has “lived up” (or down) to public characterizations of her intellect. While Szakos took incredulous exception to the “rocks” allegory, indications are that it may be true.

If the box fits, wear it.

Watch Kristen Szakos’s attack on nTelos:

A mash-up of three different versions of “Takin’ it to the Streets” (Take 6, The Doobie Brothers, Quincy Jones), the show theme features WINA station callers and in-studio guests making humorous remarks over the song’s main lyric. One person, at least, did not find levity in the re-mix.

Exclusively online, hear the banned intro theme of the host who remains a “light in the darkness,” despite attempts to portray him otherwise.

Here, for your listening pleasure, is an exclusive, special production of The Schilling Show: The Ballad of Norrishood and Szakos.

The song chronicles the political chicanery employed by Dave Norris, Kristin “let them eat pizza” Szakos (aka the Moat Monster) and scores of Charlottesville Democrat predecessors in their quest for political power. Click below to listen:

Norrishood and Szakos
Runnin’ through the city
Laughin’ back and forth about
how to buy some votes

Takin’ from the middle class
And giving to the rich class
Oo-de-lally, Oo-de-lally
Golly, what a hoax

Never ever thinkin’ bout that takin’ money’s stealin’
They were cookin’ up another charade
Never dreamin’ that a schemin’ talk host and his posse
Were a watchin’ every move that they made

Norrishood and Szakos
Runnin’ through the city
Jumping up and down and droppin’
hundred dollar bills

Contemplatin’ nothin’
but just getting reelected
Oo-de-lally, Oo-de-lally
Golly, what a thrill
Oo-de-lally, Oo-de-lally
Golly what a thrill

Of course, no story about Rob Schilling would be complete without rabid political mouth-frothing from his former Charlottesville City Council nemesis, Blake “Je vomis la stupidité chaque fois que je parle” Caravati, and Lindsay Barnes obliges.

Here’s a small taste of the article:

Limbaugh, Hannity… Schilling? Is the former councilor the next radio talk star?

by Lindsay Barnes

On Friday, June 19, he opened his noon radio show by dubbing Congressman Tom Perriello (D-Ivy) “a boy doing a man’s job” and a “lapdog” of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). He decried the closure of the U.S. prison at Cuba’s Guantanamo Bay “a disgrace,” and blasted City Hall for an alleged “attack on local media.”

And that’s just in the first segment.

To read such statements in black and white, it might seem that Rob Schilling is a stereotypical right-wing talk radio loudmouth. Yes, he is a pull-no-punches conservative, but the easy charm of his Schilling Show is that such lines are delivered with such calm that he sounds more like a courteous next-door neighbor than a microphone-equipped agitator.

But is the incendiary nature of such comments merely flying under a blanket of mild-mannered cloud cover?

Is Schilling, who broadcasts weekdays on WINA AM 1070, really any different from Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Michael Savage, the four top-rated radio talk shows of last year, according to trade publication Talkers Magazine?

For starters, the Charlottesville talker has actually held elected office. In 2002, Schilling won a seat on Charlottesville City Council as a Republican, the first non-Democrat to win a seat since 1986. For another, he sports none-too-conservative shoulder-length hair.

While the latter may not be evident to radio listeners, his mane would set him apart should he ever make the leap to television. He certainly didn’t look like any other conservative commentator on Fox News Channel when he was invited on the network’s Fox & Friends earlier this month.

At high noon, on Wednesday, April 1, our regular programming was unexpectedly interrupted when the Charlottesville Department of Disinformation (a long-time nemesis of The Schilling Show) briefly commandeered the WINA studios to institute more balanced programming.

Although it made for an ugly scene, The Schilling Show posse (Rob, Leon, Jay, Faketa, etc.) eventually retook control of the studio by force and physically ejected the interlopers.

Below is the theme song developed by the city’s DOD for use in their short-lived foray into broadcasting known as: “Charlottesville Community Radio.”
