Albemarle County Public Schools is again endangering students and disrupting learning by coddling wayward, indoctrinated pupils.
In a letter sent to the Lakeside Middle School community (copied below), Principal Michael Craddock warns that walking-out of class violates School Board policy—and then he goes on to give them walk-out best practices.
Spineless “leadership” only empowers already lawless students. Those who follow the rules (i.e. staying in class) will be punished by reduced instructional time and disrupted learning.
While other school divisions are mandating out-of-school suspension for student violators, Superintendent Matt Hass, EdD (and his legion of administrative stooges) enables them.
See below for Principal Craddock’s weak-kneed warning:
Good evening Lakeside Families & Students,
I am writing to inform you of a possible student walkout demonstration scheduled for Friday, March 6. While we respect student expression, our primary goals are to maintain a safe environment and ensure that learning continues without disruption.
Please be aware that leaving school grounds is a violation of policy. Students who leave campus will be subject to disciplinary action according to ACPS attendance rules. We strongly encourage students to remain in their classrooms. However, for those who choose to participate, we have established the following safety protocol:
Timing: Students should exit quickly and quietly during CHOMP (9:25–9:55 AM).
Exit Location: To maintain building security, students must exit only through the cafeteria doors. Safety staff will be present at this location.
Demonstration Location: Students may utilize the Lakeside portion of the track between the parking lot and the tennis courts.
Return: Students must return to their assigned classrooms through the same doors they exited by 9:55 AM.
Please speak with your child about the importance of following these rules. We can manage an organized demonstration if these guidelines are followed; however, students who disrupt the learning environment or leave school property will face disciplinary consequences. Please emphasize to your child that we cannot ensure their safety if they leave school grounds.
Thank you for your support in keeping Lakeside Middle School a safe and positive place to learn. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
Thank you,
Michael Craddock, Principal
