Following months of spotty attendance and multiple abrupt cancellations, the Virginia Young Democrats (VAYD) have “pulled the plug” on their scheduled appearances on WINA’s The Schilling Show.

The longstanding monthly segment featured a representative from the Jefferson Area Young Republicans (who never missed a date) squaring-off against a member of the VAYD in an hour-long, issues-oriented debate. Recently, the duo sometimes were joined by a member of the College Libertarians.

VAYD Communications Director, Margaret Thornton, apparently was unable to identify even one young Democrat—in the entire Commonwealth—who was available to effectively promote Democrat ideology in such a forum.

Following is Thornton’s brief and cryptic “pink slip” to The Schilling Show:

Dear Mr. Schilling,

Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to get our message out on your show. Due to time constraints, we will no longer be taking advantage of this opportunity.

Thank you,

Maggie Thornton

It’s trumpeted that Virginia is home to multiple thousands of Obama-energized, Democrat Youth. In light of that assertion, it’s bewildering that the organization empowered to represent the teeming throngs can not, or will not, provide a voice to The Schilling Show.

P.S. If you are a Young Democrat and would like to represent your party on the radio, please advise.
