schilling_show_logoLamenting the insta-morphing of former independent politician Bob Fenwick into a full-fledged Democrat, the Spade uses Don Henley’s “The End of the Innocence” to make a sharp point about personal integrity.

This masterful musical interpretation was performed live on WINA’s The Schilling Show, October 29, 2013.

(Bob Is No Long) an Independent
By Scott Bandy

Can you recall first moving here
or is this your hometown of birth
The C’ville of past seemed so free
Before MCP* turned into an asphalt path

But once upon time’s are prologue
And nepotists creep in like rolling fog
where go the promises made on blog
Passed swearing in on oath

But by the grace of new urbanists
A world class city’s on the rise
see small town common sense recede
in-a cash-strapped mob economy

State what your platform does esprit‡
Progressive God-smack Environment
Raise and dash hope for the nescient†

Bob is no long,
Bob is no long… an Independent

Four score and six, one forum less
Greetings to whom presents befall
The last dredge firm’s made an egress
Despite the private-public partnership free-fall

The past is often said prologue
And nepotists creep in like rolling fog
Where are the promises made on blog
Passed swearing in on oath

But by the grace of new urbanists
High density’s sprawl in disguise
See small town common sense recede
In a cash-strapped mob economy

State what your platform has to be
Progressive God-smack Environment
Raise and dash hope for the nescient†

Bob is no long,
Bob is no long… an Independent

[Instrumental]

What is sustainable to extent
Life’s gotten too advance, too fast
But here southern town charm’s still quaint
Crafted **BAR perpetuity

Mind bought into prosperity
Claim to encourage vitality
Take hard long look at growth called smart
Before the swearing in

State what your platform has to be
Progressive God-smack environment
Raise and dash hope for the nescient†

Bob is no long,
Bob is no long… an Independent
