Charlottesville’s Robert E. Lee monument was vandalized overnight—another in a long string of illegal defacements.

This time, red paint was splashed wantonly over the Lee sculpture. Residual specks of red paint splashed onto the granite base, and “BLM” was inscribed on both sides of the base in what appears to be a metallic marker.

Despite ongoing private and public surveillance of the park, the vandals apparently managed to escape without detection.
