F-bomb Tom: Besieged Perriello cracks under “Geithner-gate” pressure

One week after The Schilling Show exposed Congressman Tom Perriello’s clandestine call for the firing of U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, the embattled Democrat has cracked.

In an interview with U.S. News and World Report’s Linda Killian, Perriello was interrogated about his then lack of an official, public “Geithner must go” statement.

The boy Congressman responded with crass four-letter candor:

“How f***ing out of touch do you have to be as an economic team?” Perriello asked rhetorically about Geithner and Summers.

There was a time in America when that sort of rhetoric was considered unacceptable from a public servant, “F-bomb Tom.”

It is vulgar.

It is demeaning.

It is churlish.

It is beneath you.

You owe your constituents an apology.

In the bigger picture, it is clear that you are hemorrhaging from a self-inflicted wound—a tangled web of attempted deception. Maybe it’s time, “F-bomb Tom,” to forgo your Congressional spoils (and your dream for publicly funded subsistence) and join Tim Geithner on his way out the back door.

I hope you called for Dick Cheney to apologize when he used the same word on the actual floor of the Senate, and not merely as an adjective, as Perriello did, but as a verb directed at a U.S. Senator.

In the bigger picture, it is clear that you are hemorrhaging from a self-inflicted wound—a tangled web of attempted deception.

Was Cheney cracking up when he swore? It’s clear that, claims to be hate-free notwithstanding, you so automatically presume the worst about this guy, that you confuse wishful fantasy with evidence-backed reality.

  2. Ken says:

Excuse me, Rob, but can you pick out the part of my post where I excused Perriello? Of course you can’t. And by not commenting on the air about Cheney, you illustrate my point, which is that you have a double standard, as when Bruce yesterday completely dodged the question of what why it’s wrong to criticize this country publicly. You’d never let Perriello get away with that. Here’s how you should break it down for him next time: Do you deny that America has done wrong along with doing tremendous good? And if he sanely says “no,” ask him what’s wrong with admitting it publicly.

  3. Cville Eye says:

Perriello represents the 5th Congressional District. There is no need for Rob to run all over the country critizing any and everyone using the F word. He’d never get anything else done.

Oh, but he wouldn’t criticize any and everyone. Only Democrats! :-)

  5. Not A Lib says:

Wow, Ken, it is finally starting to sink in, that Rob is a partisan blogger.
