Daily Progress circling the drain

Signaling the onset of its own demise, Charlottesville’s Daily Progress will skip Monday’s print edition.

In a desperate, deathbed effort to self-resuscitate, the struggling daily newspaper recently has declared a far-left, anti-American editorial position and has pledged to support a political and social equity agenda.

That course clearly has failed, and the manifestation is inevitable: the Daily Progress will soon cease to be “daily.” In fact, all indicators point to an all-digital future.

While the Progress’s bad news is painted as a “celebration” of Labor Day, the newsprint is on the wall, and the paper’s days are numbered.
