Albemarle County Faux Equity

Albemarle County’s woke Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) doesn’t even attempt to hide their institutional anti-American, anti-Christian bias.

In order to prevent cultural “hurt” feelings, the County has de-Americanized and de-Christianized all official communications by omitting supportive, traditional, or encouraging language and replacing it with flaccid, staid, non-binary parlance—except when it doesn’t.

To wit: let’s examine Albemarle’s recent holiday-specific press releases, which are clearly vetted (if not written) by the OEI.

Albemarle County press release for Memorial Day, one of America’s most sacred holidays, honoring our fallen military personnel:

Thursday, May 22, 2025
County Offices will be Closed Monday

Albemarle County offices will be closed, Monday, May 26 in observation of the Memorial Day holiday.

Offices will reopen Tuesday, May 27, 2025 on a regular schedule. Public safety will operate as usual.

Albemarle County press release for Independence Day, our most patriotic holiday, celebrating the founding of our nation:

Thursday, June 26, 2025
County Offices will be Closed Next Friday

Albemarle County offices will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Offices will reopen Monday, July 7, 2025, on a regular schedule. Public safety departments will operate as usual.

Albemarle County press release for “winter break” (known by everyone else as Christmas), the centerpiece of our Judeo-Christian western culture:

Thursday, December 19, 2024
County Offices will be Closed Tuesday and this Upcoming Wednesday

Our offices will be closed on Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25 for winter break.

Offices will reopen Thursday, December 26, 2024 on a regular schedule. Public safety departments will operate as usual.

But the OEI seized the day when it came to Juneteenth—a recently-designated holiday celebrating the end of slavery in the United States—breaking all previously established press release protocol while engaging in the disingenuous vocabulary of cultural Marxism.

Albemarle County press release for Juneteenth:

Thursday, June 12, 2025
County Offices will be Closed Thursday

Albemarle County offices will be closed, Thursday, June 19 in observation of the Juneteenth holiday. Offices will reopen Friday, June 20, 2025 on a regular schedule. Public safety will operate as usual.

Juneteenth allows the opportunity to celebrate the end of slavery in the United States, and the freedom of all Americans. Juneteenth also helps us live out our Albemarle County value of Community, which states that “we expect diversity, equity, and inclusion to be integrated into how we live our mission.”

We continue to commit towards ensuring an equitable, inclusive community for all. We also value and appreciate all members of our community.

While Albemarle County spends countless tax dollars on poorly written, biased, and “equity”-laden communications, the rest of us suffer from the dictatorial whims of free-spending leftists who govern by beating the economic “snot” out of their subjects.

The ongoing diminishment of American culture by the all-Democrat Board of Supervisors and their minions makes it clear that contrary to Albemarle County’s deceptively “inclusive” messaging, not all “members of our community” are welcome here.
