Sources deep inside the Charlottesville Democrat machine reveal that Peter McIntosh, a previously announced candidate for Charlottesville City Council soon may withdraw from the race.

Seen by many as an interchangeable surrogate for retiring Democrat, David Brown, McIntosh told select supporters over the weekend that he was a reluctant entrant, coerced by local party bosses into joining the council fray—which currently includes six Democrats and four independents. A Republican candidate is rumored to be announcing shortly.

While McIntosh has not formally declared his retreat, he is expected to do so within days unless establishment stalwarts can convince him otherwise.
